After reading the article, I thought it didn’t seem very misleading. There were real statistics about the number of abortions between black and white women. When I first got to the page; however, I thought the page was a little sketchy because it looked like anyone random person wrote it. It looked like some time of journal entry where people could comment on it. The only pictures on the page were from advertisements for Volkswagen cars and Disney World. Colors, pictures, and layout designs mesh together by forming an overall image. Colors and pictures are used to grab the reader’s attention. Colors can emphasize the importance of words and pictures can further explain a situation. Layout designs can help organize the page, making it easier to read and understand.
Pictures display a story where words can tell a story. Words can be more vivid and detailed then what a picture can show. Words are sometimes more appropriate than pictures because words can be really in depth. They can tell a story rather than show a story.
I think you raise an interesting point here, Erin. It sometimes seems that words are valued as more "objective" or "factual" than images, which are often seen as flashy fluff with no real substance or depth. I (obviously) think that opinion is incorrect, but I wonder why people still believe it.
